The Beach dogs lose a physical battle at home
OPSB suffered their first loss of the season, going down to a very good San Francisco Golden Gate side 34 - 14. OPSB controlled proceedings in the first half putting the bigger and more fancied SFGG side under massive amounts of pressure however, the young beach dogs failed to turn possession into significant points.
Late in the half SFGG responded to Evan Haigh's three penalties with two tries in quick succession to give the visitors a 12 - 9 lead at the break. The second half was a different story as SFGG played with an up-tempo pace and scorched in four unanswered tries to take the game away from the home side. OPSB never gave up and returned fire with a lovely worked try for Filimoni Botitu, like the first half OPSB had number of scoring opportunities but failed to fully capitalize on them.
Even though score line does not show it the Beach dogs took a huge step forward in this match, which will ultimately stand them in better position for their upcoming matches against Utah and Denver. With only two sides qualifying for playoffs the next two away games for OPSB are going to be critical before they return to Magnuson Park on April 30th to play Utah.
